The Cappamore Development Association was founded 13th March 1970 at meeting held in the Old Star Ballroom of Romance. The principal aims of the Association under its constitution are:

1. Promotion of any activities, which would benefit the Community and Parish of Cappamore

2. To act on the Communities’ behalf in dealing with State and local authorities and to co-operate with these bodies and projects undertaken in the area

3. To maintain, and be responsible for any property and assets of the Association

The Cappamore Development since its foundation has been to the forefront of many developments such as the building of:
- Community Centre 1973
- Fire Station 1976
- Public Library 1977
- GAA grounds 1987
- River Development 1996

CDA has been actively involved in village renewal schemes and tidy towns for a number of years and are presently preparing long term plans for the future development of the Cappamore area in consultation with Limerick County Council.

CDA was also actively involved in the building of the Day Care Centre in 1998 for health catchment of area of Cappamore which has population of 20,000 approx. The centre is the first of its kind that encompasses facilities for both elderly and those with learning disabilities. Presently we are building an extension to this facility and plan to open in Spring 2005. Building of sports and leisure centre 2004, opening 2005

In 2004, Cappamore Agricultural Show held its golden jubilee. The Cappamore Show commenced in 1954 on a budget of €250 and it is now a one day event that costs in excess of €50,000 and has become one of the largest rural agricultural shows in Ireland. No show was held in 2001 due to foot and mouth restrictions.

Other noteworthy achievements for the CDA have been:

- the procurement in 1996 of a business to occupy the Old Star Ballroom complex in Cappamore.

- Purchase of the old creamery Cappamore 1998 for the building of community housing.

These developments demonstrate that the strength of the community revolves around the Cappamore Development Association as the umbrella body, which has stimulated an enormous voluntary contribution in the interest of local development within the community since its foundation.
